The NC500 certainly isn’t the only way to travel the Highlands. Our Coast to Coast itinerary is a great way to journey inland from one side of the Highlands to the other. While they may be shorter than the NC500, our unique Highland travel routes will let you discover roads less travelled and add some truly unique spots to your travel itinerary.

There’s plenty to see as you start off at the Royal Marine Hotel in Brora and journey West towards Newton Lodge in Unapool. Follow our first route to climb Ben Bhraggie and bask in stunning views over Golspie and the coast. Enjoy scenic walks through Lairg and Rosehall, or visit historical sites such as Oykel Bridge, Ardvreck Castle and the ancient Inchnadamph caves.

Our alternative Coast to Coast route will take you on a different adventure inland. Starting similarly in the charming town of Dornoch from the Royal Golf Hotel, kick off your Highland itinerary with an invigorating walk up Ben Bhraggie or Beinn Leoid further along your route. Visit the picturesque Shin Falls and the historic 19th century Laxford Bridge, or enjoy a leisurely wander in the Highland villages of Lairg and Scourie before reaching your final destination and a stay at the iconic Kylesku Hotel.
